Ashley S. C. Walls, Co-Founder of SydneyMalcome LLC, was a young woman who had a passion for life, a passion for people, and a passion for making a change in the lives of people and her community.

Ashley built her professional reputation as an activist, community organizer and youth development specialist.  She worked in a comprehensive capacity with community service organizations for several years. Ashley held two Masters degrees, one in Arts and Entertainment Media Management and another in Urban and Regional Planning. Trained in research, strategic planning and community development practices Ashley was successful in helping organizations achieve and exceed company goals. Her educational and professional experiences focused on planning and implementing programs and events that had a social action component or purpose. Ashley's expertise was in alternative economic development strategies through the use of intergenerational planning, arts and public-private partnerships/stakeholder engagement.

As evidence of Ashley’s tenacity, passion, and belief in herself and her dreams, she embarked on a journey to Brazil to complete doctoral research on the people’s use of social action theatre, education, community development, politics, and policy with the goal of identifying the intersection of these strategies to create sustainable communities in urban landscapes. While in Brazil, Ashley became ill and at the tender age of 29, she abruptly made her transition from this earth on June 23, 2014. Ashley's friends, family, and colleagues mourn the loss of this great light and are committed to continuing the legacy of support, encouragement, inspiration and motivation that underscored everything that she did.

The commitment is that her dream to help others reach and realize their dreams and goals will not stop with her passing. To this end, Building Blocks: The Ashley S. C. Walls Foundation was established.
